So many things stand out to me after eleven days of Number 47’s second term, with the pardoning of Jan. 6 rioters the most egregious, and then, in no particular order: insisting on the U.S. taking over Greenland and the Panama Canal and renaming the Gulf of Mexico (which Google has promised to do on its latest maps); the hearings for loyalists seeking appointments to the most important jobs in the world, especially Kennedy, Hegseth and Gabbard; the arrests of immigrants; the X model Musk is attempting to use to downsize the government workforce; etc., etc., etc.
But 47 took it to a new low with his statements after the tragic plane crash that killed 67 in Washington as he insisted on blaming Obama, Biden, Pete Buttigieg, and the Democrats in general for diversity programs at the FAA
“I do want to point out that various articles that appeared prior to me entering office … the FAA diversity push includes focusing on hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities,” Trump said. “That’s amazing.”
How does 47 know this? “Because I have common sense.”
Unsurprisingly, his toadies backed him up, including Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, “who does not have a background in transportation but gained fame as a reality-TV star before becoming a congressman from Wisconsin,” according to NBC.
“You made an important point that when we deal with safety, we can only accept the best and the brightest in positions of safety that impact the lives of our loved ones, our family members,” Duffy said. “And I think you make a really important point on that, Mr. President. That is the motto of your presidency, the best and the brightest, the most intelligent coming into these spaces.”
At least there was pushback from the media. Gives me hope.
